Learn To Skate – Fall – 2017

Our Learn to Skate USA program offers skaters the foundation they need to succeed in figure skating and hockey. Six progressive levels introduce forward and backward skating, stops, edges, crossovers and turns. Upon completion of Basic 1-6 skaters will be able to confidently advance to more specialized areas of skating. All classes will be well-structured with the focus on proper skills development taught in a positive, FUN, and social environment. Skaters will progress at their own rate and will advance when mastery is demonstrated.

Snow Plow Sam

Snowplow Sam levels are introductory classes divided into 4 progressive levels for children with no prior skating experience. All classes will be taught in a safe and positive environment, incorporating fun and games making class time an enjoyable experience for all.

Hockey Learn To Skate 2-4

Must pass Basic 2

The hockey curriculum is designed to teach the fundamentals of hockey skating. Our program begins with Hockey 2. All elements will be taught without a puck or a stick. Skaters will learn the basic hockey stance, stride, knee bend, edges and other necessary fundamentals to be successful in hockey practices and game situations.  Coach Pat Pellegrino is the head instructor for each class.

Basic 1-2

These introductory levels allow new skaters with no prior skating experience to build confidence while learning to skate.

Basic 3-6

These levels develop all of the fundamental skating skills on the ice. Focus is on learning the ABCs of basic athleticism: Agility, Balance, Coordination and Speed. Upon completion of these levels, skaters will be able to confidently advance to more specialized areas of skating. Private lessons are strongly recommended at this level along with group lessons for mastery of skills.

Must pass Pre-Free Skate
Each free skate level is comprised of a variety of progressive skating skills, transitions, spins, jumps- all of which build on the previous skill, providing skaters a strong foundation of all elements. These levels will be taught in a positive and interactive group format. Focus will be on quality and mastery of skills. If the skaters has not signed up for private lessons with a coach it is highly recommended they do so at this level to ensure proper technique is being practiced.

Teen / Adult 1-4

The Teen/Adult Learn To Skate program is for skaters 13 years and up who wish to learn how to skate or improve their basic skating skills. Instructors encourage the development of balance, coordination, mobility and other basic skills at a comfortable pace for each individual. Classes will be divided by ability and/or age if possible.
