Stick Time

Flemington Ice Arena offers daily Stick Time sessions that can be used for hockey players to practice on their own, take private lessons with a coach or play pick up games with their friends.  Players must be in full equipment for any session after 2:30pm or at the discretion of management.  Players must sign in and pay at the front desk before entering the ice.  Please check the rink calendar for posted sessions.

Rules and Conduct

All participants must adhere to the Sticktime policies during each session:

– All skaters must pay in advance ($15 per skater, $12 for Bears/FYHL active players) and sign the waiver/roster sheet.

– Set locker rooms will be provided for the session. Players are prohibited from dressing in the lobby and in the concession area. Please use the locker rooms provided.

– Full Equipment is required for all skaters during late afternoon and evening stick time sessions.

 – Sticktime etiquette is important for the safety of our participants.  Please be aware of younger players and players around the nets.  Be wary of players shooting pucks when you are around the net to avoid getting hit with a puck or stick.

– “Claiming” a net or gathering large groups for scrimmaging is not permitted during busier stick time sessions.

– Players who are deemed disruptive during the session, will be asked to leave the ice.

Additional Requirements for Coaching Staff Members

– All private lessons are to be conducted by Flemington Ice Arena or Hunterdon Bears staff members only.  Guest coaches are permitted with written permission by the General Manager and must pay a $10/hour guest coaching fee prior to stepping on the ice.  No exceptions.

– Guest coaches are NOT permitted to bring their own pucks.  Pucks will be supplied by Flemington Ice Arena for stick time session.  No exceptions.

– Anyone who is not authorized will be asked to leave the ice surface. A second violation of this policy will result in expulsion from future Sticktime sessions at Flemington Ice Arena.

– Cones, or any other teaching devices, may only be used by authorized coaches within the restricted areas. Instructors may use one end zone for private lessons, regardless of how many private lessons are going on, unless the session is light and more ice is available.  3/4 of the ice is reserved for regular stick time participants.
